Agenda:
1) EP Meeting and Plans Mike Kelly Argonne
2 Summary of Crymodoule Meeting at Cern (Short Version) Bob Kephart
3) Summary of Feb 17th Fermilab RF Meeting Sergei Nagaitsev
http://ilc-dms.fnal.gov/Workgroups/Presentations/ILCRFC
4) Summary of AES Meeting on Long Island Shekhar Mishra
5) Discussion of Funding Possibilities Bill Foster
AOB:
Nigel will take minutes since Hasan is in the UK.
------------------------------------------------------------------------
Attending: Bob Kephart, Shekhar Mishra, Cristian Boffo, Bill Foster,
Sergei Nagaitsev, Mike Kelly, Ray Fliller, Jay Theilacker, Arkadiy
Klebaner, Bob Wagner, Giorgio A., Giorgio B., Charlie Cooper, Victor
Yarba, Warren Funk, Swapan Chattopadhyay,..
Please let me know if you were connected or are not listed.
Mike Kelly Presentation:
See straw man document on server EP Summary and EP Meeting Summary.
Last Friday -Bob asked them to make a plan for EP activities. Plans
for 5000 or more cavities processing capabilties by 2010.
Goal is a Pilot plant 30 cavities in 2009 (adjusted by a Shekhar comment
to move forward to 2008, he thinks Mike's schedule off by one year)
Need a
1) process specification immediately.
2) Define a Modular
Facility -new at Argonne of agreement (ILC+PD other cavities)
3) ILC Pilot facility
Ken Shepard, Pierre Bauer, Mike Kelly, Cristian Boffo, Charlie Cooper,
Tsuyoshi Tajima.
Few companies are interested in processing, only building EP facilities.
How many facilties needed?
Follow up meeting next week.
Hasan: Good to hear about what grand plan is driving these dates
(30 by 08). (Will be Discussed next meeting was suggestion).
Bob Kephart Presentation:
Harry Carter will give a more complete summary in a week hopefully.
Meeting was Monday and Tuesday at Cern. Jan 16-17
Begin a collaborative effort for ILC cryomodule-Fermilab and INFN
DESY, KEK, Vittorio Parma CERN was host.
Fermilab will follow initial SMTF plan--1 in 07 type 3+(DESY/INFN), 1 in 08
type 3+(US made), and then
type 4 in 09.
People want Fermilab to move faster on Type 4 module,--- have
one by 2008. Being given serious consideration by Bob, Shekhar et al.
DESY will build 2 type III+ cryomdoules.
To participate need to ask DESY.
INFN + DESY
First one, assembled at DESY and industry watches, 2nd industry assembles
DESY watches.
INFN, Pisa, Milan, DESY will collaborate
use IDEAS for exchanging drawings-SLAC or KEK do not use package.
coordination needs discussion-3D models at DESY/Milan and Fermilab.
Try to merge models. Agreed cavity 283 mm could meet BCD target.
Coaxial tuner would be adopted. Quad in middle.
Carlo wanted vibration studies.
Lots of dicussion on pipe sizes. More from Harry next meeting.
SLAC will measure vibration and magnetic center motion (Chris A.)
Appeal for design of quad and correction package.
Still discussing separate quad outside of cryomodule. On going
discussion.
KEK building 2 4-cavity cryomodules. Not like ILC design. Next one
would be more like ILC perhaps. Need to incorporate their ideas.
Tom Peterson gave a cryo talk.
discussed heaters in cryomdules to compensate for RF being
turned on and off. Discussed different string lengths 15 cryom
with 1-2 meter short feed and end boxes (30 minutes cryo loop
Joule-Thompson spacing). Lattice not uniform.
Looked at 50 cryom string with turn around (isolation) boxes
(one cryom long).
How long of a string can be warmed up was discussed. 50 length
driven by maintenance.
Hasan Question. Do we have resources to pursue ambitious schedule
for Type IV. Pisa willing to help a lot was answer from Bob.
More discussion when Harry Carter gets back and plan needs to be
formulated.
AES meeting. Include minutes from Hasan. Decision about length
needs to be made. 1st cavity by OCT. 06.
Sergei:
http://ilc-dms.fnal.gov/Workgroups/Presentations/ILCRFC
Good attendance for RF meeting at Fermilab.
Link available for talk. Given above. See summary.
Bob K. What are conclusions?
Sergei: Bunch Compressor drives spec. However, driven by results from
PT at Frascati meeting.
Mike Church repeated (independent) study. But PT spec is driven
by 2% luminosity loss due to arrival time not being optimal. This loss
budget origin needs to be understood.
Next LLRF meeting Feb 9th, 10th at Fermilab. DESY/Simrock will attend.
Bill:
Millions may be available!
Slides available.Posted.
DOE Neutrino Initiative:
Fermilab planning a joint proposal-ANL,FNAL,BNL,LBNL,SLAC..
non-hep labs thru Fermilab.
FNAL request will be pure M&S (SMTF Parts)
Each lab will supply a few pages.
New 1300 MHZ MB Klystron - Joint procurement with SLAC (CPI?)
Work toward a common spec for X-FEL , PD, and ILC.
For PD, need long pulse length. 3 ms.
